If you treat a job as meaningless, it will become meaningless
I approached reading John Hand's BBC article about McDonald's new qualifications here in the UK with total cynicism, borne mainly from the fact that I personally do not regard McDonald's food as good food.
But, sometimes, the book is better than the cover. By the end of the article I was already questioning my own cynicism.
But what really did it were the readers' comments. They were an incredible eye opener. In the country which invented the Class System, which is still incredibly strong and where, therefore, a job at McDonald's would be derided left, right, and centre, the number of positive comments about the "job-at-McDonald's-experience" is unbelievable. It is overwhelmingly positive and my cynicism is totally gone !
I hope you'll find John Hand's article as interesting as I did — . Make sure you read all the readers' comments. Fascinating.
As John Hand indeed says, "If you treat a job as meaningless, it will become meaningless".
